No few than thirteen thousands have been registered for West Africa School Certificate Examinations WAEC in 188 secondary schools in Osun State.
It would be recalled that Osun government released guidelines for the partial reopening of schools to students in exit classes yesterday, stating that teachers would resume on Tuesday, August 4, while students who are to WAEC are to resume on Thursday, August 6.
The WAEC is expected to commence on August 17.
While featuring on a private radio programme in Osogbo, Osun State capital on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs. Funke Egbemode, said the government will fumigate and clear bushes in all the schools that will be used to write WAEC.
She promised that the government under the leadership of Governor Gboyega Oyetola will provide water and hand sanitizers for schools.
She urged the parents to do their part by educating the children about Pandemic to be able to follow instruction when they get to school.
According to the commission, “188 schools will be reopened for WAEC of this year for 13,177 students. We expect the parents to stand with the government to provide face masks to their children as the schools will be reopened. We believe they have been wearing one already.
She however, emphasis that apart from face masks the government will provide all the other things.
Speaking on behalf of Private School owners, Architect Goke Omigbodun who is also a school proprietor, charged the Osun government to provide thermometer for both private and public schools in the State.
Omigbodun said, “let all the nook and cranny in the state benefit from washing bow, hand sanitizers and thermometers we all taxes payers”.he said
