Police yesterday paraded eight suspects arrested for various offences in Gombe State.
One of the suspects, Garba Abubakar, 26, was alleged to have strangled his mother, Salamatu Abubakar aged 45.
Police commissioner Ishola Babaita said, “The suspect strangled his mother because she usually advised him to stop taking hard drugs. The victim was rushed to General Hospital Kumo where she was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
“I am advising parents to pay more attention to the care of their children and make sure they are not into hard drug. Sadly this woman was murdered by her own son; that is the effect of drugs,” he said.
One of the suspects, Adamu Lawal, 53, was paraded for the alleged rape of his neighbour’s 10-year- old daughter, who usually took animal feed to him.
“This suspect took advantage of that and forcefully had carnal knowledge of the little girl,” Babaita said, adding that investigation was still on.
