Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has said he has quit partisan politics, but he desires Nigeria to come out of its many challenges.
Obasanjo noted that an individual effort could not provide the solutions to the nation’s challenges, but Nigerians must come together and address the problems.

He stated this while addressing reporters shortly after he received the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant and Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, former governor of Cross River State Donald Duke and others in Abeokuta.

The Rivers Governor, Wike paid a visit the ex-president in continuation of his consultations across the six geopolitical zones.

Obasanjo said he loved Wike’s courage particularly with the way he pursued his ambition.

He, however, informed his guests that he had long ceased from partisan politician, but noted that he would continue to seek the welfare of Nigerians.

He said if Nigeria enthroned the basic ingredients that would bring unity and inclusiveness, all other things would take their position to help remove conflict, and the country would be able to solve insecurity and other problems.

On his part, Wike said zoning was in the constitution of the PDP and in line with the nation’s constitution that also provided for fairness and equity, adding that the party had thrown its presidential ticket open and he was prepared to go through the primary election.

He said, “I’m confident that I have what it takes to win the PDP primaries and also win at the general election. I pledge to work for the unity, stability and security of the country and Nigerians.”
