The campaign team of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar stormed Anambra State at the weekend ahead of the 2023 Presidential election
The team was led by founder of Africa Independent Television (AIT) High Chief Raymond Dokpesi without Atiku’s running mate in 2019, who is also former Anambra Governor Peter Obi
Atiku is seeking the presidential ticket of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The Atiku campaign team paid a visit to the governorship candidate of the PDP in Anambra during the November 6 election, Valentine Ozigbo at his Amesi country home in Aguata local government area.
Speaking to the PDP faithful who gathered at Ozigbo’s place to receive the party chieftains, the leader of the group, Dr Dokpesi said the visit was to inform them that Atiku was contesting the 2023 presidential election.
According to Dokpesi: “The Waziri( Atiku) is the right person that could match Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu should he eventually emerge as the presidential candidate of APC.
“We have come to seek and solicit your support for the presidential aspiration of Waziri Atiku Abubakar and to assure you that Atiku Abubakar is in the best position to unify Nigeria and protect the interest of his in-laws Ndigbo.”
He lamented that Anambra missed out on having Ozigbo as its Governor during the last election because of selfish interest of some PDP members, describing him as dogged fighter and shining light of Anambra politics.
He maintained that rotational presidency was meant to prevent the emergence of Super Nigerians by allowing people from every part of the country to lead.
He also added that PDP had technically zoned the presidential ticket to the North by electing Atiku as its flagbearer in 2019.
Responding, Ozigbo commended the team led by High Chief Dokpesi ,adding he had always admired him for being consistent in PDP.
