APC Stalwart, Olarewaju Alleges Threat To Life, Urges Security Agents To Safe Him

A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Mr Olarewaju Amos Babatunde has alleged security threat to life, saying his life is in danger.

Olarewaju said he has been receiving threat in the recent times, noting that he received several phone calls threat from an unknown individuals who had been threating of killing him.

Olarewaju who is the loyalist of APC, said his life is now in danger since he has been receiving strange calls from unknown sources.

“I don’t know why in recent times I am being trailed by faceless individuals for unknown reasons. I had never involved any act of political thugerry or involved in criminal activities or having criminal history. I received a threat calls on 27th March, 2023 and 7th and 9th of April, 2023 respectively. ”

He recalled during March 18, 2023, Governorship and State House of Assembly election when suspected political thugs stormed Okerewe ward II, polling unit 6 and distrupted election process, where many people sustained various degrees of injuries ,an Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) adhoc staff, Mrs James Funke was not spared and Ilode ward Councilor Folasade Adegoke were injured.

Olarewaju said he could only recollect the role he played during the period when he took the two injured INEC adhoc staff to hospital for treatment in company of other party members.

He noted that the matter was reported at the police station, Aganhun division, Inspector Akin Ojudale, who is the Investigator Police Officer took up the matter in a way that could be described as one of the best practice in discharging security duty.

The APC stalwart stressed that at every time, he received strange call alleging him of holding secret meetings with unidentified individuals to scuttle proposed swearing-in of the elected House of Assembly members PDP and causing problem for the new government which he knew nothing about.

Asked if police is providing adequate protection for him, Olanrewaju said police have arrested about 22 persons in connection with the attack on various polling stations based on the report and petitions from other affected parties, affirming that their ringleaders were said to be at large.

“I think some of them were still out there threatening some of us. Police are doing their best, but they can not provide protection for individuals citizen. I have to go to hiding to protect my life.”

He, therefore, called on security agents to safe him from threat to his life, investigate and brought the perpetrators into book to serve as deterrent to others. Olarewaju said his life is being threatened by faceless individuals in the society.
