Atiku Wins As Court Upholds Consolidation Of Petitions Against Tinubu’s Election

The State Police Command in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, ASP Alfred Alabo pointed out that the family of five were killed in Fubur town by yet to be identified person on Friday. He assures the families of the deceased and the entire local government that efforts are on top gear to arresting the pepertrators of the dastardly act for them to face justice. The State Police Command also advised residents of Plateau State to get the phone numbers of security officers within their areas to ensure timely information is passed to the Police and other security and law enforcement agencies to aid them respond on time whenever there is an incident in their areas. Meanwhile, the Command has foiled an attempt to kidnap a man and his family in Bassa local government area of the state. According to the statement issued by the state police command, the unfortunate incident occurred on Friday at about 11:00 pm when a gang of kidnappers stormed the resident of one Mr Mark Inkasu and attempted to force him and two other members of his family into a waiting vehicle. It was pointed out that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Bassa Division SP James Yekubu received a call from a concern citizen that some unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers were operating at the residence of one Mark Inkasu. "Upon receiving this report, the DPO mobilized his men and raced to the scene. On sighting the patrol vehicle, the hoodlums in their cowardly manner started shooting at our the police personnel. In return our team engaged them fearlessly. Sensing the danger that was about to befall them, the hoodlums escaped into a nearby bush with bullet wounds". The State Commissioner of Police therefore enjoined the residents of Bassa LGA to go about their lawful activities as normalcy has since been restored in the area. , Atiku, Tinubu

The Presidential Election Petition Court, PEPC has upheld the position of the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Atiku Abubakar on the consolidation of the three petitions challenging the qualifications and declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential election.

The Court in the pre-hearing session report presented on Tuesday by Justice Stephen Jonah Ada announced the consolidation of the three petitions instituted by Atiku, Peter Obi of the Labour Party LP and the Allied People’s Movement APM.

The Court agreed with Atiku’s lawyers that given the time-bound nature of the petitions, especially for expeditious hearing purposes, it was proper and appropriate to merge them in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022.

Justice Ada while announcing the consolidation said the Court took the decision because the three petitions are related to the same election and same declaration of results.

Tinubu had vehemently opposed the consolidation move on the ground that the interest of justice would not be met.

But Atiku and PDP who saw the objection to consolidation as a ploy to delay quick disposal of the three petitions, had prayed the Court to adopt the move to be able to do substantial justice to their respective grievances against Tinubu’s election.

Meanwhile, the Court has given Atiku and PDP three weeks within which to argue their complaints against the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC on the alleged irregularities in the conduct of the presidential election.

They are also to, within the period present their objections against the qualifications of Tinubu for the election and his subsequent return as winner of the 2023 presidential poll.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Court, Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani has fixed May 30 for a full blown hearing of the three petitions.
