Nine suspected members of a cult group have been arrested for allegedly attempting to kill two persons identified as Festus Osagie, 40, and Olusola Esimaje, 39, at Ologbo, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo state.

According to the police, the suspects, on June 15, opened fire on their victims and injuring them in the process.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the arrest in Benin.

Nwabuzor said the victims reported the incident at the Ologbo Police Division and that operatives were immediately dispatched to the scene where one Osahon Omofuma, 38, and eight others were arrested.

The victims, he said, were taken to the hospital for treatment.

He said that investigation into the incident had commenced.
