Harness Potential, Leverage Technology for Inclusive Growth, Engr. Agoro Urges Youth

A Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE) and the Chairman of NIgeria Electricity Supply Industry Regulation Review Panel, Engr. Ademola Agoro, has called on Nigerian youth to key into the Federal government’s digital empowerment initiatives to harness potential, advance multilateral cooperation, and leverage technology for inclusive growth.

Engr. Agoro, alongside other key stakholders made the call at a special program organized by Osun State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) to commemorate the 2025 International youth day, held in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

Speaking on the theme of the International youth Conference, “Youth Advancing Multilateral Cooperation through technology and Partnership”, Engineer Agoro who was the Keynote Speaker, emphasized the importance of youth empowerment in a developing Nation, noting their active participation in elections and governance as pathway to national progress.

He stressed that technology has become the most powerful enabler of cooperation in the 21st century which has redefined learning, working, communication, and solving problems.

“This year’s theme is both timely and strategic, it calls our attention to the role of youth in strengthening international cooperation, fostering
partnerships, and leveraging technology to address global challenges such as unemployment, climate change, insecurity, poverty, and digital inequality”.

“In today’s interconnected world, no country, no state, and indeed no young person can thrive
in isolation”.

“The future belongs to those who can collaborate across borders, sectors, and
disciplines”.

“Through digital platforms, young people are expanding businesses beyond local borders, attracting investments, and creating jobs”.

“Through innovations in renewable energy, artificial intelligence, fintech, and
agritech, youth are contributing to solutions that directly impact national and international development”.

Through online education and digital skills acquisition, the barriers of geography and class are being broken, enabling Osun youth to compete globally”.

It is clear that technology is no longer optional, it is the new currency of development”.

The Importance of Partnerships, however, technology alone cannot deliver the desired transformation. We must complement it with partnerships.

Partnerships enable young people to leverage shared resources, access
international opportunities, and scale up their innovations”. Engineer Agoro said.

The event was attended by the distinguished Nigerians include; the Olowu of Kuta, Oba Oyelude Makama, the State Commissioner for youth affairs, Moshood Olagunju, National Youth Council of Nigeian leadership, government representatives among others.

The International Youth Day, observed annually on August 12, draws global attention, also encouraging meaningful engagement, innovation, and bringing youth issues to the attention of the international community.

Highlights of the event include; Content creation challenge, taekwondo, award presentation among others.
