Full List: FG Releases Subjects in New School Curriculum

The Federal Government has unveiled the full list of subjects under the newly introduced school curriculum, which will take effect from the 2025/2026 academic session.

The development was confirmed on Wednesday after the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Mr Dada Olusegun, published the details on his official X handle. He shared an image containing the breakdown for both Junior and Senior Secondary School levels.

He wrote: “The new curriculum for Nigerian schools which will commence from the next session in September 2025 has been released.”

The revised curriculum, formally announced by the Federal Government on Sunday, makes digital literacy and basic entrepreneurship compulsory at the Junior Secondary School level, while programming, artificial intelligence, and foreign languages are introduced as core elements at the Senior Secondary School level.

Junior Secondary (JSS 1–3)

Mathematics & Measurement (numbers, fractions, algebra, geometry, statistics, graphs, measurement)

English Language (essays, grammar, comprehension, oral skills)

Integrated Science (physics, chemistry, biology, earth science, technology)

Digital Literacy & Coding (Word, Excel, Python basics, Scratch, robotics)

Social Studies (history, geography, civics, economy, global issues)

Languages (advanced mother tongue, foreign language – French/Arabic)

Creative Arts (drawing, painting, drama, film, music)

Physical & Health Education (sports, nutrition, reproductive health, first aid)

Senior Secondary (SS 1–3)

Mathematics & Advanced Applications (algebra, trigonometry, calculus basics, probability, statistics, financial maths)

English & Communication (academic writing, literary analysis, public speaking, journalism, fact-checking)
