Ipetumodu: Alumni Teachers’ College Marks 40th, Elects New Officers

The Alumni Association of Divisional Teachers’ College 1985 set, Ipetumodu, Osun State, has celebrated the 40th reunion anniversary where they elected new officers that will oversee the affairs of the association.

The event which was a gathering of who-is-who in the society held at the Ipetumodu town hall and deliberated on matters that will uplift the association in the future.
The electoral officers that conducted the election are Chief Omidun Olarewaju Ezekiel (chairman); Mr Bukola Samson (secretary), while Bukola Samson Adekola, Chief Omidun (former senior prefect) and Dr. (Mrs) Taiwo Akinyemi served as members.

After the exercise, Alhaji Rauf Ajani was elected as president, Dr (Mrs) Taiwo Akinyemi (vice president); Adetunji Christopher (secretary); Mrs Ike Adegbite (financial secretary); Mrs Folake Ojelabi (treasurer); Prince AJT Adediwura (PRO) and Mr Adekunle Gbolade (Ex-officious), and they were sworn in by Professor Ropo Jacob.
In his acceptance speech, the newly-elected president, who doubled as the chairman planning committee, Alhaji Ajani, represented by his wives, Alhaja Ajani Titilayo and Alhaja Bukola Shade appreciated all members for selecting their husband as president.

While advising all other members who are yet to join the group to contact Ojelabi on 08034985244, Professor Ropo Jacob on 08033978525, Prince Adediwura on 07063000117 and Adetunji on 07031359561, Ajani said it is difficult to connect friends who have been parted 40 years ago.

Ajani expressed happiness to see the young of those years coming together to appreciate the goodness of God in their lives, just as he advised them to be more together as it was when they were in school.

Chairman of the occasion, Dr Israel Akinjogbin congratulated all the celebrants for coming together 40 years after they have left the school.

He appreciated members of the anniversary planning committee for organising a beautiful event, as he advised them to immortalise the school for them to continue to be thinking of the institution that produced them.

One of their former teachers, Elder Bamidele Omifare, in his lecture entitled ‘Benefit of networking among old students, interaction and progress’, lauded the old students for the first reunion anniversary which he described as a round peg in a round hole towards their betterment and upliftment.

In the address delivered by both Ajani and Adekunle as the coordinator of the programme, they appreciated God for allowing them to put the programme together, adding that it was not their making but God with the support of their members.

They charged the new officers to always pursue programme that will contribute to the progress of members.

Dignitaries at the event include, Babarinde Funsho Kingsley, Prince Ojo Segun, Special Assistant to the Governor, Abayomi Ojo-segunHon, Special Assistant to the Governor on Traders Association and Market Matters, Elder Apesin Abiodun Adegoke and the Special Assistant to the Governor, Kingsley Awosiyan.
