Osun 2026: Crisis Rocks PDP as Leaders, Members Pass Vote of No Confidence on Adeleke’s Deputy, others

By Favour Odanye

Ahead of the primary election for the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has passed a vote of no confidence on Governor Ademola Adeleke’s deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, the ex-party’s National Secretary, Professor Wale Oladipo and one other.

The decision was confirmed in a communiqué issued on Tuesday after the PDP Federal Constituency meeting was held on Monday and was signed by the party’s State Financial Secretary, Prince Adesoji Adegoke, ex-Deputy Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Ropo Oyewole, two serving Commissioners, Dipo Eluwole (Education), Biyi Odunlade (Political Affairs) and 35 other members, also alleging the PDP Chairman of Ife East Local Government, Hon. Olasunkanmi Makinde for anti-party activities.

They accused the trio of engaging in anti-party activities, which they warned could endanger the PDP’s chances ahead of the 2026 governorship election in the state.
The PDP leadership added that the meeting, originally scheduled to be held at the residence of Deputy Governor Adewusi, was disrupted by thugs allegedly sent by Hon. Makinde under the influence of Prof. Oladipo.

However, the meeting was later rescheduled and held at the residence of the Osun East Senatorial Leader.

The group also linked the trio with Hon. Bimbo Ajilesoro whose recent defection from the PDP they condemned stating that, “The party is dissatisfied with the actions and conduct of Hon. Bimbo Ajilesoro, Member of the House of Representatives, who defected from the party with the mandate freely given to him by our people”

They maintained that the conduct of the deputy governor and others posed a grave threat to party unity in Ife land, stressing that Ajilesoro’s defection has led to the victimisation of party loyalists, thereby weakening the party’s activities in Ife land.

In Ife East, the party is enraged that loyal members, such as Lawrence Omotosho, Adeyinka Adeniji (a.k.a Gbogbo Ebe), Yakubu Olawusi, and others, who openly disassociated themselves from Hon. Bimbo Ajilesoro, following his defection, are being continuously victimised by being relieved of their government and party positions. More importantly, these leaders have put party meetings in Ife East Local Governmenton holds, thereby weakening party activities in the area”.

They resolved that “Their (deputy governor, Adewusi, Prof Oladipo and Makinde) activities amount to anti-party and pose grave danger to the success of the party in Ifeland, the meeting thereby passed a vote of no confidence on them”.
