Osun Police Debunk Viral Video of Bandit Attack, Clarify Incident

The Osun State Police Command has dismissed a viral video circulating on social media, claiming to show a bandit attack on travellers around Omi Funfun, Ora Igbomina, Osun State.

In a statement released on Monday by the Public Relations Officer for the Commander of police, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, he revealed that the alleged attack was not in Osun.

He said that the alleged attack actually occurred on August 18, 2025, in Rore/Arandun area, Kwara State.

DSP Abiodun warned the public to disregard the viral video, urging them to avoid spreading fake and unverified information.

However, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan, has heightened security measures in Osun State, in a bid to prevent such occurrences.

“The Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, CP Ibrahim Gotan, mnips has put stringent security measure in place by deploying the Command Tactical squads and intelligence at the various borders of Neighboring States to reinforce security in Osun State,” the statement read.
