Wrangling Within Osun APC over Adewole Repositioning Committee Report

Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has promised to implement to the letter the recommendations of the Professor Isaac Adewole Repositioning Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) if given the mandate

In an interview with THISDAY in Osogbo, APC chieftain Hon. Jamiu Olawumi reacted to alleged comments by an unnamed “prominent” member of Agba Osun, the apex Elders Council in Osun APC, criticizing Omisore for plotting to undermine Minister of State for Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola. Olawumi clarified that Omisore did not attack Oyetola as being rumoured.

It would be recalled that Omisore made this statement during an interactive session with critical stakeholders of the APC, assuring the audience of Council Chairmen and Party Chairmen of his resolve to implement the committee’s recommendations if he emerged the governor of Osun in the 2026 poll.

In a statement tittled “Omisore Stylishly Atta’cks Oyetola” but Olawumi decried the statement made, saying Omisore did not attach Oyetola in any form and that Oyetola is in no way connected with the implementation of the report in question.

Hon. Jamiu Olawumi also insisted that Omisore will not tarnish the image of others for his ambition; rather, his aim is to implement the report in a way that will reflect positively, politically, and religiously in the three senatorial districts for meaningful development and to avoid any act of nepotism.

According to him “Since ex-Governor Adegboyega Oyetola will no more contest for the race, the implementation became necessary in order to avoid inequality, disparities and nepotism within the party if Omisore is given the mandate.”

Olawumi noted that”the party needs unity and strategy, not hollow promises and revisionist storytelling. The truth is clear: you don’t need to tear others down to build yourself up. The sky is wide enough for every bird to fly.”

The APC Chieftain emphasised that” Omisore is a friend of Gboyega Oyetola and Senator Omisore can never do anything that will be inimical to the progress and personality of Gboyega Oyetola.

However , a close ally of Omisore, Hon. Akinyele Akintola, who allegedly shared an update of the meeting on his Facebook page, said Omisore pledged to implement the committee’s recommendations, which were reportedly killed by a “Cult of Personality” within the party.

Akintola said speakers at the meeting accused members of the “Cult of Personality” of being responsible for the failure of the party in the 2022 and 2023 elections.
