Adeleke Pledges Support for Cooperative Societies

The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator (Dr) Asiwaju Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering an enabling environment for cooperative societies to thrive in the state.

The Governor who was represented by his Special Adviser on Cooperatives and Empowerment, Hon. Durojaye Isaac, made this known at the inauguration of the newly elected executives of the Otito Inu Multi-Service Cooperative Union in Osogbo, Osun State.

He congratulated the outgoing executives and members of the union for their remarkable achievements and welcomed the newly elected executives, urging them to build on the solid foundation laid by their predecessors.

He noted that cooperative societies play a vital role in the state’s economic development, serving as a platform for financial inclusion, capital mobilization, and provision of essential services and opportunities for members.

The Special Adviser highlighted the state’s initiatives to support cooperative societies, including the establishment of the Ministry of Cooperatives and Empowerment, the Osun Cooperative Support Fund, and the disbursement of N2 billion to cooperative groups for small-scale businesses and trade.

He also mentioned the state’s food bank initiative, Imole Business Empowerment Scheme, and the upgrade of the Sen. Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke College of Cooperative Studies to a degree-awarding institution.

Durojaye assured the cooperative union of the state government’s continued support and commitment to strengthening the partnership with the Federation of Osun State Cooperative (FOSCOOP).

He called on the union’s members to continue supporting the government, especially as the state approaches the 2026 gubernatorial election.
