EPL: Martin Keown, Redknapp Predicts Future Of Arne Slot After Liverpool’s 3-0 loss To Forest

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has predicted the future of Liverpool manager Arne Slot at Anfield.

His prediction was also backed by former Liverpool star Jamie Redknapp following Premier League matches on Saturday.

Liverpool were beaten 3-0 by Nottingham Forest in front of their own fans at Anfield, marking the Reds’ sixth defeat in seven Premier League games.

Arne Slot’s side are now eight points behind leaders Arsenal, who play Tottenham in the North London Derby on Saturday.

The two former Premier League stars believe that Slot would not be sacked despite Liverpool’s poor form this season.

Slot, who won the Premier League in his first season at Anfield, is currently under huge pressure, with his tactics no longer effective and his summer signings failing to deliver.

“The wheels are coming off now for Arne Slot,” Keown said on Final Score.

“He has spent £450 million on players, and they are going backwards. They have simply been undone. Whether it’s a crisis, I don’t know, but it’s certainly a major problem for the manager to go six defeats from seven. Unthinkable.

“It is not unheard of for a manager to win the league one season and get sacked the next; Claudio Ranieri in 2017 is the most recent example, losing his job just months after miraculously guiding Leicester City to the title.”

Former Liverpool star Jamie Redknapp agrees with Keown’s verdict, saying on Sky Sports:

“I look at Liverpool now; this is what I expected to happen last season. After Jurgen Klopp left the club, I thought it would have some negative effect on the team. There wasn’t. They did something absolutely extraordinary and won the league.

“Right now, I think it’s a time for patience because there’ll be people, pundits, everyone, going crazy saying, ‘sack the manager.’”
