Nollywood: Wumi Toriola Kneels To Apologise As She Reconciles With Afeez Owo
Popular Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has apologised to veteran filmmaker Afeez Owo following their heated exchange on social media.
The reconciliation took place on Wednesday evening at actor Odunlade Adekola’s movie premiere. In a now-viral video, Wumi approached Afeez, knelt down and apologised for insulting him.
She said, “I’m sorry, sir. Please forgive me”.
Afeez, who initially tried to avoid her, lifted her up after she went on her knees and hugged her.
DAILY POST reports that Wumi Toriola had, two months ago, publicly criticised Afeez for discussing her character during an interview on the African A-List podcast. Afeez had said the actress’s roles in films were “similar to her character in real life”, adding that “violence is her comfort zone”.
In response, Wumi, in a now-deleted video on her Instagram page, berated the veteran actor, describing the interview as “rubbish”.
Many social media users criticised the actress, insisting that Afeez’s assessment was accurate.
