Court Arraigns Man For Allegedly Defrauding Soun Of Ogbomoso

The Oyo State Police Command has arraigned one Ali Muhammed before a Magistrate Court in Ogbomoso for allegedly defrauding the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Olaoye, of ₦39.5 million.

Muhammed, 45, was arraigned on December 23 on a four-count charge bordering on impersonation, conspiracy, stealing, and obtaining money under false pretence.

According to the charge sheet, Muhammed allegedly impersonated a Comptroller of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) and claimed he would sell auctioned vehicles and bags of rice to the monarch.

The offences were said to have been committed between October 12 and October 19, 2025, in the Oja-Igbo area of Ogbomoso.

The prosecution stated that the offences contravened Sections 484, 516, and 419 of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000. Muhammed pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

The presiding magistrate granted him bail in the sum of ₦5 million, with two sureties resident within the court’s jurisdiction, and adjourned the case to January 28, 2026, for hearing.
