Osun 2026: Why APC Disqualifies Seven Governorship Aspirants

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified the immediate past National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, along with six other aspirants from participating in the party’s upcoming governorship primary scheduled for December 13.

After a two‑day screening marathon at Amor Hotel in Abuja, the party’s seven‑member Screening Committee, led by Chief Obinna Uzoh, Esq., announced that seven hopefuls won’t be on the ballot for the upcoming primary .

The committee said the aspirants failed to meet the party’s mandatory nomination rules.

The committee stated that they didn’t produce proof that each of them was sponsored by at least five fully‑registered, financially‑up‑to‑date party members in every Local Government Area of Osun State .

According to the committee, the affected aspirants — Sen. Iyiola Omisore, Babatunde Haketer Oralusi, Oyedotun Babayemi, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, Benedict Alabi, Adegoke Rasheed Okiki, and Senator Babajide Omoworare

Only two aspirants cleared are; Mulikat Abiola Jimoh and Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.

The panel confirmed they had the proper nominations from the required number of eligible party members in every LGA, satisfying both the constitution and the party’s primary guidelines .
