Osun NLC Faults NBA Over Call for JUSUN’s Resumption, Backs Ongoing Strike

The Osun State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has faulted the call by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Osun State branches, directing the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) to resume work amid its ongoing industrial action.

In a statement signed by its Chairperson, Comrade (Dr.) Christopher Abimbola Arapasopo, the NLC said its attention was drawn to letters dated December 8, 2025, issued by the NBA, as well as a letter dated December 9, 2025, by the Osun State Executive Council of JUSUN.

The Congress stated that the continuous withdrawal of services by JUSUN in Osun State is rooted in their fundamental principles and rights at work as provided under International Labour Laws and Standards.

According to the NLC, the NBA’s call for the Osun State Government to enforce JUSUN’s resumption is borne out of ignorance of labour laws and workers’ rights.

The Congress reiterated that it would not back down in its struggle until a firm commitment is secured from the Honourable Chief Judge of Osun State, who also serves as the Chairman of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), alongside other members of the Commission, to act and discharge their constitutional duties without bias.

The NLC further commended the Osun State chapter of JUSUN for what it described as courage in protecting workers’ rights and upholding the rule of law.

Reaffirming its commitment to workers’ welfare, the Congress said it remains steadfast in promoting and protecting the rights of workers while improving their living and working conditions. It also called on workers and citizens to remain united, steadfast, and resolute in the collective struggle against what it described as exploitative political and economic forces.
