1,000 Students Benefit from IleriOluwa AMBO Education Support Scheme

No fewer than 1,000 admission seekers have benefited from the sixth edition of the IleriOluwa Education Support Scheme, with the 20 best-performing candidates set to enjoy scholarships.

A screening exercise for beneficiaries of this year’s edition, which fully covers students’ UTME (JAMB) registration fees to ease access to tertiary education, held on Saturday at the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Office, Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo.

In his remarks, the facilitator of the IleriOluwa for AMBO Education Support Scheme and Executive Director, Marine and Operations, Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), Engr. Olalekan Badmus, said the event, which is the sixth in the series, was designed to motivate brilliant young minds to pursue academic excellence.

He explained that over the years, thousands of students from all local government areas within in Osun State have gained access to scholarships, instructional materials, mentorship, and all-round support to aid excellence in their academics.

The facilitator also added that this year’s edition is dedicated to the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), whom he said has a strong commitment to revitalising the education sector of the state.

“We are happy to report that this is the 6th phase of the scheme. Since we began, we have facilitated support in millions of Naira to students. We have also provided free instructional materials and free forms to students aiming to get into tertiary institutions.

“This project is inspired by our leader and mentor, H.E. Adegboyega Oyetola, who has an undying love and passion for education. He has supported us hugely to make this possible and we will continue to be guided by his worthy mentorship and leadership.

“The programme aims to give back to society by engaging the youths. I am also a beneficiary of this engagement, drawing from my leader and mentor’s drive to empower and build more leaders that will continuously advance the course of the society.

“The Honourable Minister has built a lot of us, and the only way we can spread this goodwill he has done is by giving back to the society through IleriOluwa Education Support Scheme, which started five years ago for admission seekers,” Badmus noted.
