Ikirun Mourns as Chief Imam, Sheikh Balogun Passes Away
The Chief Imam of Ikirunland, Sheikh Yunus Ibraheem Balogun, has passed away on Tuesday evening.
The revered Islamic scholar was buried Wednesday morning in accordance with Islamic rites.
The burial of the late Chief Imam was led by the Chief Imam of Osogbo, Sheikh Musa Animashau, alongside other Islamic scholars, with a large number of residents in attendance to pay their last respects and pray for the repose of his soul.
Key stakeholders and residents of the ancient town have mourned the passing of the Chief Imam, describing his death as a great loss to the community and the Muslim ummah.
Hon. Sarafadeen Abiodun Awotunde, Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government and Chairman of ALGON, Osun State Chapter, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Sheikh Yunus Ibraheem Balogun, the revered Chief Imam of Ikirunland.
Hon. Awotunde described the late Sheikh Yunus Ibraheem as a distinguished Islamic scholar who devoted his life to the service of Allah through piety, wisdom, and the propagation of pure Islamic teachings.
“The passing of Sheikh Yunus is a great loss not only to his immediate family, but to the entire Ikirun community and the Muslim faithful. His teachings, character, and dedication to Allah’s commandments have left an indelible mark that will continue to inspire generations,” Hon. Awotunde said.
