New Year Greetings: NRCRI Iresi Sub-Station Head, Ajifowowe Reaffirms Commitment to Agricultural Innovation in 2026

The Head of Station, National Root Crops Research Institute (NRCRI), Iresi Sub-Station, Iresi, Osun State, Dr. (Mrs) Akinbo-Ajifowowe Oladunni, has extended warm New Year greetings to staff, farmers, partners, and stakeholders, as she welcomed the year 2026 with a renewed pledge to advance agricultural research and productivity.

In her New Year message, Dr. Akinbo-Ajifowowe expressed gratitude for the dedication and resilience shown by researchers, technical staff, extension officers, and collaborating farmers over the past year.

She noted that their collective efforts continue to strengthen the institute’s mandate of developing and disseminating improved root and tuber crop technologies that enhance food security, livelihoods, and sustainable agriculture.

According to her, the Iresi Sub-Station remains committed in 2026 to intensifying adaptive research, strengthening farmer engagement, and promoting climate-smart agricultural practices tailored to local realities in Osun State and beyond.

She emphasised the importance of innovation, collaboration, and timely transfer of research outputs to end-users, particularly smallholder farmers who form the backbone of Nigeria’s food system.

Dr. Akinbo-Ajifowowe also called for deeper partnerships with government agencies, private sector actors, development organizations, and the media to scale up the impact of NRCRI’s research and ensure that improved technologies translate into increased productivity and income for farming communities.

She concluded by wishing all stakeholders a prosperous, healthy, and productive New Year, urging them to remain steadfast in their shared commitment to agricultural development and national food security in 2026.
