Osun Police Warn of Alleged Plot to Disrupt Local Government Workers’ Resumption

The Osun State Police Command has raised the alarm over an alleged plan by some unscrupulous politicians to sabotage the smooth resumption of duties by local government employees across the state.

The statement was signed by the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Giwa-Alade Emmanuel said the command had received credible intelligence indicating moves to disrupt activities at council secretariats in the 30 local government areas, Ife East Area Office, Modakeke, and the Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan, mnips, warned that any attempt to cause unrest or interfere with lawful activities would be firmly resisted by the police. He stressed that the Command would not tolerate actions capable of undermining the peace and stability currently enjoyed in the state.

CP Gotan specifically cautioned individuals who are not bona fide staff of local government authorities to stay away from council secretariats, noting that loitering around such premises could raise security concerns. He disclosed that police personnel have been directed to act professionally but decisively against anyone attempting to incite violence or disturb public order.

“The Command will not permit miscreants to undermine the peace and tranquility that have been diligently sustained in Osun State.

He reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, adding that officers would continue to discharge their constitutional responsibilities with vigilance and professionalism.

The Commissioner of Police also urged members of the public to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and to cooperate with security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious movements or activities.
