Osun Govt Urges Residents to Patronise Revitalised Primary Health Centres

The Osun State Government has urged residents to take advantage of the revitalised primary healthcare centres across the state as part of efforts to bring accessible and free medical services closer to the grassroots.

The Chairman of the Osun State Primary Health Care Board, Alhaji Adisa Tajudeen, said Governor Ademola Adeleke has made the health sector a top priority since assuming office, describing the governor as a people-oriented leader committed to improving the welfare of residents.

According to him, the decision to renovate and upgrade primary healthcare facilities was driven by the governor’s belief that primary healthcare is the foundation of the health system and the closest point of care to the people, especially at the grassroots level.

Adisa explained that in line with the governor’s campaign promises, a committee was inaugurated immediately after the administration assumed office to oversee the revitalisation of primary healthcare services.

The committee, which included stakeholders from all sectors of the health system, was mandated to ensure that functional and efficient primary healthcare centres are available across the state.

He disclosed that out of over 835 primary healthcare centres in Osun State, the government prioritised 332 focal centres, one in each of the state’s 332 wards, to guarantee equitable access to healthcare.

“All the 332 wards have at least one primary healthcare centre. As of today, 208 of these centres have been fully completed, with 24-hour electricity and water supply, and equipped with modern medical equipment,” he said, adding that members of the public are free to visit the facilities to verify the upgrades,” he said.
