Osun Pensioners Warn of Aregbesola’s Plot To Return To Govt

The 2011/2012 Retired Public Servants’ Association of Osun State and the Unbonded Contributory Scheme Pensioners have sounded a warning to stakeholders in the state to prevent the return of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola through his croinies in the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The retirees, who spoke with newsmen at a peaceful protest in Osogbo, on Thursday alleged that Aregbesola’s administration was marred by deliberate deductions of salaries and benefits, misappropriation of state funds, and unfulfilled promises, among other atrocities.

Speaking on behalf of the group, its Chairman, Omoniyi Ilesanmi, while commending the current administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, for prioritising workers welfare and development of the state, he emphasized the need to stop Aregbesola’s plot to return to government through the back door.

His words, “This is a calling to Osun State people and all Stakeholders to wake up to stop and prevent Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola from coming back to Osun State through his Agents or Privies in the ADC in order to avoid him causing more havoc to the Economy of the State and to spell further doom for Workers and Retirees, and the good people of Osun State.

“There was also conversion and diversion of the Bail out Loan of #34,988, Billion from the Central Bank of Nigeria facilitated by Late President Muhammad Buhari after series of letters, press conferences, press releases, protests and peaceful demonstrations embarked upon by our Group which necessitated the release ef the funds and even when the funds were released to offset the backlog of Salary, Pension and Arrears and Gratuities of Workers and Retirees in order to make better lives of Workers and Retirees in Osun State, the funds were diverted and misappropriated under Aregbesola who still left a huge Debt in the State Treasury.

“There were lot of mistakes and atrocities committed by the Government under Aregbesola regime that we do not pray to reoccur as it will spell doom to the Public”.
