Osun Speaker, 24 Others Dump PDP for Accord

The speaker of the Osun state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Adewale Egbedun, his deputy, Hon. Akinyode Oyewusi, alongside 23 other sitting legislators, have signed from the Peoples’ Democratic Party, (PDP), to the Accord party.

The decision was reportedly reached after a meeting held on Friday evening at the Assembly complex in Osogbo, the state capital.

It would recalled that Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, alongside other cabinet members had in December 2025 dumped the PDP for the Accord party.

An anonymous source said that the lawmakers resolved to align with the state governor, Ademola Adeleke, who had earlier left the PDP for the Accord Party ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

One of the lawmakers confirmed the move, saying, “We have joined the Accord Party. We had been considering it since Governor Adeleke joined the party in November, but we made the final decision today following developments surrounding the adjustment of the general election timetable.”
