Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reiterated his administration commitment to supporting initiatives that will strengthen tertiary institutions across the state.

The governor disclosed during his address as visitor at the Combined 8th convocation ceremony of Osun State Polytechnic, held on Thursday at the school pavilion in Iree, Boripe local government area of Osun State.

Adeleke who was represented by his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi assured that his government would continue to collaborate with the leadership of the polytechnic to create an enabling environment that promotes academic excellence.

“As a government, we remain committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen our tertiary institutions. Our administration will continue to work with the leadership of this Polytechnic to create an enabling environment for academic excellence, research, and innovation,” he said.

The governor commended the Rector, the Governing Council and the host community for their dedication and commitment to advancing the institution.

He implored the graduating students to apply the knowledge acquired in school to solve numerous problems, create opportunities, and contribute meaningfully to society.

According to him, the improvements in academic accreditation, infrastructure development, and technological capacity demonstrate a shared determination to position this Polytechnic as a centre of excellence in technical education.

“To the graduating students, today marks the beginning of a new chapter in your lives. The knowledge and skills you have acquired here must now be applied to solving real problems, creating opportunities, and contributing meaningfully to society. The world you are entering is dynamic and competitive. It rewards creativity, resilience, and integrity. I want you to remember that your education has prepared you for this moment,” he said.

In his convocation address, the Rector of Osun State Polytechnic, Comrade Kehinde Alabi said that 11,201 students bag HND certificates; 15, 727 for National Diploma while 67 have National Certificate of Education making a total of 26,995 students who have successfully fulfilled the academic and professional requirements of the institution.

The Rector stated that 84 of those graduates came out with distinction in HND while 78 students finished with distinction in National Diploma.

Comrade Alabi said that since the last convocation ceremony three years ago the institution has continued to record notable achievements in academic development, infrastructure, research, and institutional advancement.

He called on the industries, companies and institutions to partner with Osun State Polytechnic to improve technical and innovative education in Nigeria.

According to him, “I will like to appeal to industries, companies and institutions to partner with the institution in our desire to improve technical and innovative education in Nigeria.

“Dear graduands, today marks the end of one chapter of your lives and the beginning of another. The world you are entering is dynamic, competitive, and constantly evolving. However, it is also filled with opportunities for those who are innovative, creative, disciplined, and committed to excellence.

“The future of our nation relies heavily on technical expertise, values that are central to innovation, and entrepreneurship polytechnic education.

“Wherever you go, remember that you are ambassadors of this institution. Let your conduct and achievements reflect the ideals Excellence in Character upon which this Polytechnic stands and Technology.

“I reaffirm our commitment to continually strengthen this institution as a centre of excellence in technical and entrepreneurial education. With the continued support of our stakeholders and the dedication of our staff and students, the future of this Polytechnic remains bright,” he said.
