FRSC Warns Against Motorists’ Extortion, Orders Compliance

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has conducted a sensitization briefing for its personnel in Osun State, aimed at reinforcing discipline and strengthening command and control across all formations.

The exercise, held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Adolak International Hotels, Osogbo, brought together officers drawn from Zone RS11 Command Headquarters and all component commands under the Osun State Sector Command.

The sensitization programme was convened by the Zonal Commanding Officer, Zone RS11 Osogbo, Assistant Corps Marshal Edward Odiete, and the Sector Commander, FRSC RS11.1 Osun, Corps Commander Leye Adegboyega.

It also featured the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, who was represented by Assistant Corps Marshal Joshua Asaolu, Head of the Planning Advisory Unit at the FRSC National Headquarters.

According to the Corps, the briefing was organised in response to recent incidents that generated public backlash and disrupted operations in some parts of the country. The initiative forms part of proactive measures by the FRSC management to address operational lapses and restore public confidence in the Corps.

Welcoming participants, Adegboyega charged officers to pay close attention to the directives conveyed on behalf of the Corps Marshal and to ensure full compliance with all guidelines issued during the session. He stressed that the FRSC leadership places high priority on the sensitization exercise and has committed significant resources to its success.

In his remarks, Odiete described the programme as strategic and necessary for correcting operational misconduct and reawakening accountability.

“This programme is not just routine; it is strategic and necessary. We must correct operational misconduct and reawaken a strong culture of accountability across all formations,” Odiete stated.

Commanding Officers are to institute daily briefings for their subordinates and submit compliance reports to the National Headquarters for proper monitoring and evaluation.”

Speaking on behalf of the corps Marshal, Asaolu described the sensitization as a deliberate effort to correct recent lapses and safeguard the integrity of FRSC services. He warned that weak supervision and breakdown of discipline could erode public trust and undermine the credibility of the Corps.

Asaolu condemned the extortion of motorists by patrol operatives, describing it as an abuse of authority and a betrayal of the oath sworn by personnel upon enlistment. He reiterated that professionalism, ethical enforcement, operational excellence and respect for members of the public must remain the guiding principles for all officers and men of the Corps.

The briefing also featured a technical session during which a paper titled “Administrative and Operational Misconducts: Corps Marshal’s Charge” was presented to further clarify management’s expectations and reinforce compliance with established standards.

The FRSC expressed optimism that the sensitization programme would galvanize the necessary attitudinal change among personnel and strengthen discipline and operational efficiency across commands in Osun State.
