‘Obesere Is Not My Biological Father’ – Actress Debbie Shokoya Debunks Viral Claim

Nollywood actress Debbie Shokoya has firmly denied viral reports alleging that Fuji musician Abass Akande Obesere is her biological father.

The claim, which gained traction across social media platforms over the weekend, suggested that the actress had emotionally revealed a long-hidden family secret. However, Shokoya has dismissed the report as entirely false.

In a video shared via her Instagram page on Monday, the actress clarified that she has never met Obesere and described the story as fabricated.

“It is not funny anymore; the news is everywhere. I have never met Obesere before, and you claim I said he’s my biological father? Don’t I look like my father? Am I not my biological father’s replica?” she said.

Shokoya further urged the public to disregard the misinformation, stressing that she never made such a claim and did not “cry out” as widely reported.

“Obesere is not my biological father. Please stop spreading fake news! Stop writing or posting things I never said,” she added.

The actress also called out bloggers and social media users for amplifying unverified content, urging them to correct the narrative with the same speed at which the false report was circulated.

Her response comes amid growing concerns about the spread of misinformation in Nigeria’s entertainment space, where celebrities are often subjects of unfounded rumours.
