Over 1,200 Killed, 12,000 Injured in Nine Days of Attacks — Iranian Deputy Health Minister

Deputy Health Minister of Iranian, Ali Jafarian has disclosed that more than 1,200 people have been killed and over 12,000 others wounded in the past nine days following attacks allegedly carried out by the United States and Israel.

Speaking on the humanitarian situation, Jafarian said the casualties cut across different age groups, with victims ranging from eight months to 88 years old.

According to him, 1,255 people have been confirmed dead, including 200 women and 200 persons under the age of 18.

He added that one of the deadliest incidents involved an attack on MENA Elementary School, where 168 children were reportedly killed.

The Deputy Health Minister also highlighted the toll on medical personnel, revealing that 55 healthcare workers were wounded, while 11 others were killed, including four physicians, two nurses and three emergency workers.

Jafarian further disclosed that the attacks have caused significant damage to the health sector. He said 29 clinical facilities have been damaged, with 10 currently out of service.

Due to the destruction and security concerns, authorities have been forced to evacuate patients from seven hospitals and medical centres across the country.

He also noted that the strikes have affected more than 200 cities, leading to widespread disruption of health services.
According to the health official, 52 health centres have been damaged, while 15 ambulances and 18 pre-hospital emergency service units have either been damaged or destroyed.

Jafarian warned that continued attacks on healthcare infrastructure could further worsen the humanitarian situation and undermine emergency response efforts in the affected areas.
