Easter: FG Declares April 3, 6 as Public Holidays

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays in observance of this year’s Easter celebrations.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued on behalf of the government and signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

In his message, the Minister extended his congratulations to Christians across Nigeria and in the diaspora.

He encouraged the citizenry to embody the virtues of selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance, and love, noting that these qualities are central to the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

Addressing the broader national context, the Minister reiterated the administration’s commitment to implementing policies aimed at national rebirth, sustainable economic growth, and shared prosperity for all Nigerians.
