The jubilant residents of Orolu Local Government Area, Ifon-Osun on Thursday trooped out enmass to welcome the leadership of the Council led by its Chairman, Honourable Abolade Nureni Adekunle popularly called “One Day” for embarking on massive roads grading across the Local Government.

The ecstatic residents described ongoing infrastructural and socioeconomic developments particularly the roads grading initiative as timely and clear testimony to good governance at the grassroots capable of restoring the lost glory of the grassroots administration and as well boost the socioeconomic activities in the Council.

This is just as the Council Chairman, Honourable Abolade Nureni Adekunle declared that grassroots development will serve as panacea to end the long standing communal dispute in the area.

Recall that the 30 Local Government Areas and Ife-East Area Office in Osun had embarked on roads grading across the state as part of efforts to ease transportation and boost the socioeconomic activities in the State.

Speaking at the official flag off ceremony in Ifon-Osun Community, Orolu Local Government Chairman, Hon. Abolade Nureni Adekunle lauded the residents of the council for their unflinching support since his return to the Council.

He attributed the successful implementation of some of the people-oriented programmes in the Council to the autonomy given to Local Governments in Nigeria under the current government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Council boss who commended President Tinubu’s government for standing firm at rescuing the third tier of government from the ‘bondage of state government’ in the country promised the people of the council all inclusive and participatory government that would bring about the desired change, progress, growth and development at the grassroots.

“Firstly, we thank Almighty Allah for giving us today and opportunity to do this and we remain indebted to our President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, governorship candidate of our great party – All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), State Chairman of our party, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, among others for their efforts at ensuring justice and sustenance of good governance at the grassroots in Osun State.

“This is one of the greatest opportunities I ever had in my life, we have been experiencing deplorable state of road on this axis as this road was touched last in the past 25 years, so, for us to be used by God to upgrade it at this time, it worth celebrating. So, for us to have this golden opportunity to put it in good shape, we thank Almighty God for that.

“As a responsible and responsive government, we have so many projects that would impact greatly in the lives of our people, part of it is this massive grading ongoing across the nooks and crannies of our council. We are much ready anytime soon to commence the distribution of motorcycles to all the security formations in the Council, we will fortify and furnish our security agencies so as to strengthen their operations and make lives secured for our people and the community at large.

“We will soon launch massive empowerment programme for our people where thousands will benefit massively from the scheme and will do everything to improve on all sectors of the economy most significantly the education, health, agriculture, infrastructure among other through the regular provision of social amenities. We are resolute to restore the lost glory of our council by raising the bar of governance at the grassroots. So, apart from this, many are still coming, this is just a tip of the iceberg and as you can see, our people are for us”, he added.
