Ondo Governor Unveils Plans for State-Owned Beach Resort

Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has announced plans to develop a state-owned beach resort at the Araromi coastline, aiming to attract five to ten investors and transform the area into a premier tourism hub.

Speaking during the Araromi seaside carnival, Governor Aiyedatiwa highlighted the vast but underutilized potential of the coastline, revealing that the state government has begun actively promoting it to global investors. Early private participation has already contributed to the improvement of visitor facilities along the coast.

“The land has been measured, designs completed, and construction is set to begin this year. We expect the resort to be operational within 12 months,” the governor said. He assured prospective investors of strong security, government support, and enhanced infrastructure, including strategic proximity to the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway.

Officials and stakeholders at the event emphasized that the project is poised to boost tourism, attract international visitors, create employment opportunities, and stimulate economic growth. They also noted that the development would position Araromi as a competitive beach destination within Nigeria and across West Africa.

Governor Aiyedatiwa urged both private investors and the local community to collaborate in maximizing the benefits of the project, promising that it will serve as a model for sustainable tourism development in the state.
