Osun Illegal LG Chairmen In Criminal, Lawless Drama By Joshua Dolapo

Osun is witnessing the theatre of the absurd, a film show where thieves are openly playing charity while law enforcers look on in complicity. The space is like a lawless society that permits criminals with proceeds of crimes to parade the streets so gleefully with a sense of impunity.

Court-sacked council chairman with expired illegal tenure as at October 26, 2025 are today criminally spending local funds as they like with a supposed global bank providing cover and with law enforcement agents pretending and even collaborating with law breakers.

What manner of democracy is this for God’s sake?

A set of politicians removed from office by a subsisting court judgement admitted that their tenure lapsed by October last year through a sworn affidavit but refused to quit office supported by the police. They then proceeded to rubbish the constitution by applying for tenure extension while sitting tight in office in contravention of the constitution and Supreme Court judgement. Yet, the impunity persists and raises the previous question – what manner of democracy is this?

Still playing the drama of dictatorship, these political bandits without any legitimacy and lacking any electoral mandate, dipped their leprosy fingers into local government funds first to pay themselves and their cronies fat salaries, second to supposedly grade roads and recently to even purchase vehicles for the police from proceeds of crime. These electoral thieves have developed wings to the extent of seeking to openly bribe the police from proceeds of crimes.

Again, what manner of democracy is this?

Yet, local teachers, local health workers, local pensioners and local government workers are abandoned except for the intervention from the state. The court- sacked chairmen derived joy in inflicting hardship on grassroots workers while living large on diverted, hijacked and looted local government funds. The silent curses raining on them is still not worrisome to them. The anger of the people against deliberate oppression is brewing.

Imagine a thief dangling little cash to owners of stolen properties?

Can we ever expect a day an armed robber will attempt to bribe victims of armed robbery from proceeds of crime?

Can we fathom those who should be behind bars pushing to buy up law enforcers?

Where is our moral outrage against communal thieves?

In a shocking audacity of criminality, these usurpers, actively aided by the police service, have and are still committing grave infractions of the constitution and the state laws. Their wallowing in illegality, their brazen embrace of criminality, their shameless abandonment of anything democratic, their eagerness to openly steal from public funds and the temerity of flaunting proceeds of crimes shock Osun people of all cadres and all civilised democratic audience, locally and internationally.

Are they not thinking of legal consequences?

Don’t they have families to call them to order?

Have they forgotten that criminal offences have no expiry date?

Have they forgotten how history dealt harshly with those who fought the people and the law in the past?

What manner of democracy is this?

Where the police aid and abet crimes.

Where the judiciary is rubbished.

Where a group wilfully suppresses and exploits local workers.

Where impostors destroyed democratic rule without consequence.

But the people overcome all the time; the oppressors must surely pay for their sins at the right time.
