Former presidential aspirant and Labour Party leader, Faduri Oluwadare Joseph, also known as Fadojoe, has declared that the race towards the 2027 general elections will mark a turning point in Nigeria’s political history.

In a strongly worded statement on Wednesday, Fadojoe, who also serves as the convener of the Rescue Movement for New Nigeria, said the Labour Party’s presidential ticket for the 2027 elections will not be handed out casually but will be vigorously contested.

“While the party may seem disorganized today, let it be clear: before 2027, we will rebuild and reposition the Labour Party into a force ready to contest and win the elections,” he said.

Fadojoe criticized the ongoing wave of defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing them as acts of desperation and opportunism.

“Each of those defectors carries only one vote,” he noted. “This next election will not be won by political chess moves. It will be won by the people. Ordinary Nigerians will decide the outcome.”

According to him, the current trend of politicians switching parties is a symptom of a political class that lacks ideology, character, and integrity. He condemned politicians who join parties that have, in his words, “inflicted so much hardship on citizens,” stating that their actions reflect a quest for power devoid of purpose.

Fadojoe emphasized that 2027 will usher in a generational shift in Nigerian leadership, with the younger generation rising to take control.

“We are agile, tech savvy, mentally equipped, and purpose driven,” he said. “We are not in this to enrich ourselves but to restore Nigeria’s greatness.”

He further stressed that the coming elections will not be determined by rigging or outdated political tactics, but by the voices and votes of Nigerians across the country.

“Let this be a warning and a promise: a new Nigeria is rising,” he declared.

Fadojoe’s statement signals the beginning of what many observers believe will be a fierce and ideologically charged campaign season ahead of the 2027 general elections.
