As Nigeria revels in the joy of its 63rd Independence Day, Osun State emphasizes its commitment to environmental sustainability.

In a press statement by Hon. Mayowa Adejoorin, Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation of Osun State, the celebration transcends just the political freedom, focusing on the well-being and safety of its environment.

Underlining the concern of debris accumulation in waterways, Hon. Adejoorin addressed the significant flooding issues the state faced under the previous administration. The debris, a primary contributor to flooding, had wreaked havoc on infrastructure and disrupted the lives of community members.

However, with the advent of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration, measures to combat these environmental challenges have been ramped up, turning the tide on this issue. The goal is to manifest a dream state, where recurrent flooding is a thing of the past.

Hon. Adejoorin pressed on the importance of a collective approach towards maintaining a clean environment. By advocating for the prevention of debris accumulation in water systems, he emphasized the potential to reduce flood risks significantly. Furthermore, the commissioner encouraged citizens to imbibe practices like proper waste disposal and recycling, thereby ensuring cleaner waterways.

In this context, the efforts of Governor Ademola Adeleke have been spotlighted, acknowledging his unwavering dedication to promoting a cleaner Osun State. His strides towards a greener environment resonate with the vision of the state and demand the active support of its citizens.

This year’s Independence Day celebrations in Osun State carry a dual message – celebration of freedom and a renewed pledge to environmental consciousness. With its spotlight on sustainable development, the state is steering towards a brighter and cleaner future.
