L LETTER FOODS
We have till now covered half of the alphabets in this series, and today we will be talking about the healthy foods named with the letter L.
LENTILS
From every Indian household to even restaurants, this is a common staple food that one can find across the world. Lentils are loaded with protein and fibre, and are known to provide the much-required nutrition.
LICORICE
It’s a herb, whose roots are often used for flavouring dishes with a sweet taste and adding an aroma to them. From treating digestive issues to respiratory problems, and reducing inflammation, licorice is also used to make candies.
LEMON
It’s a citric fruit that’s often used in dishes and salads to increase flavour. Lemon is loaded with vitamin C and antioxidants, which help in boosting immunity as well.
LADY’S FINGER
Also known as Okra or Bhindi, Lady’s Finger is a popular vegetable that people enjoy a lot in Asian countries. One can saute or fry them, and even eat them with Roti. It contains vitamin K, folate and iron and is very beneficial for the body.
LYCHEE
With a red exterior and a juicy white pulp, this fruit is one of a kind and is enjoyed by many. It’s rich in vitamin C and antioxidants and is good for liver health.
LETTUCE
This leafy green vegetable is mostly eaten raw and is an important ingredient for salads and sandwiches. It’s said that lettuce is rich in vitamin C & K, and is good for bone strength.
LEGUMES
It’s a fancy word used for beans, lentils and even peanuts. They are rich in antioxidants and protein and are known to lower blood sugar and heart rate.
LOGANBERRY
These berries are shaped exactly like blackberries but are red in colour. They have a tart-like taste with the flavour of raspberries and blackberries. They are an excellent source of vitamin C, K and fibre, and are extremely delicious in taste.
