Nigerian top comedian and sports analyst, Banard Gbadamosi, Aka Koboko Master, has said that Nigerian youths will fail again in 2023 despite the agitation that the younger generation should take over the leadership of the country in order to change the nation’s political narrative.

In an interview with DAILY POST, the comedian said it’s going to be almost impossible for the youths to change the narrative because of their mentality. He said it’s only in Nigeria that the youths are suffering, yet afraid to die.

According to the comedian, there is no need being afraid to die when you are already living the life of a dead man.

According to Kobokomaster, ‘’ Do you know what it means to be alive, yet you are not living? Why are the youths afraid to take a position against those whose interest is to kill all of us? Why? Once, you have internet data to go online, but once you are offline, you are sad. That’s not life. People go to bed depressed and wake up the next morning depressed because of the way we are suffering, yet we cannot change the narrative. Election in Nigeria is like subscription. Politicians subscribe us every four years. My point is that until the youths are ready to hold politicians accountable for the trust we gave them, things will remain the way they are.

“Again, this voting thing is not working, and we need to stop it. How can you be voting someone into power every four years to oppress you? Yes, what brings these people into power is election and not riot. What we successfully do every four years is that we use our own hands to bring to power our oppressors, so my own is that until we are sure that these people are not our oppressors and that they are leaders that will help us to move to the next level, let’s not vote in an election.

“This is because I cannot come and stand under the sun to vote for my oppressors. That’s unwise. I cannot leave my house to stand under the sun in a polling unit to defend the votes of my oppressors. I cannot. Until we are ready and sure that our decision will take us to a better phase of life, it amounts to effort in futility.’’

Lamenting the current situation even after voting massively two years ago for the current government, he said, “Two years ago, we voted for this government, and here we are today, going back to the same reasons we voted in a new government. 2023 is almost here.’’

Condemning the huge amount of money invested in elections in the country, Kobokomaster said, ‘’ That’s the part that kills me most. Nigeria should stop making elections too expensive. If someone wants to contest, let’s look at his pedigree instead of allowing the wrong people to buy our votes with their money. We should stop this stadium idea, calling musicians to perform at campaigns, bringing artists, printing wrappers, caps, shirts, sharing salts, onions and a host of other inducements.

”Our elections are too expensive. Why would someone spend his life to convince you? Why? And I think that’s another reason why these politicians are so corrupt. There is a way someone will beg you for something, and after stressing him so much, and later agree to give him that thing, it will be difficult for the person to appreciate you. ‘A thank you’ will be difficult at the end. The person will ordinarily feel that the begging was enough appreciation. The same applies in the case of our relationship with politicians.’’

Kobokomaster argued that the youths can have a voice as long as they are upright and don’t go about collecting money from politicians while voting. According to him, it’s only then that their curses can work against those denying them the good things of life. ‘’Let’s stop eating so much from them during campaigns,’’ he counselled.
