The Nigeria Union of Teacher, Osun State Wing has called on the led Adminstration government of Gboyega Oyetola to approve the reviewed Educational Bill of the state that has been passed by the House of Assembly by appointing the tutor general Permanent Secretary from the fold of headmasters and principals.

Osun NUT made the call on Monday in the union’s headquarters in Osogbo Osun State , while they joined their counterparts globally in celebrating a low key 2020 World Teachers’ Day.

Speaking, Chairman of the Union, Osun State Wing, Comrade Wakeel Alade Amuda urged the government to give the member of the Union the apex position on the ministry to enjoy the benefit of the office.

Amuda said the October 5th has remained a milestone in the history of teaching profession since 1984.

He described this year’s celebration as an extraordinary amidst coronavirus pandemic.

He said the date “was inaugurated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO, to honour and appreciate teachers all over the world for their immeasurable contributions to the development of humanity and society.”

Comrade Amuda who lamented the effect of coronavirus on the world activities said ” It is painful to have experienced this ugly situation in a day like this when we (Teachers) suppose to be having funs and enjoying ourselves, the celebration has to be dropped to an extra ordinary low level.”

He urged teachers of the state to work harder individually and collectively in order to rebuild a prosperous state of their dream using the veritable tools of education under the trend of New Normal.

“As teachers, the task ahead of us is to show the whole world ways by which education can salvage the economy and livelihood. ” he said.

He appreciated Governor Gboyega Oyetola for the robust relationship with the union and her members since he assumed office.

He commended Mr. Oyetola for providing preventive personal equipment to teachers as schools resumed across the state. He also appealed to the governor to make headmaster and principals permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education.

Equally, he lauded the state Commissioner for Education, Mr. Folorunso Oladoyin and the Special Adviser to Oyetola, Mr. Jamiu Olawumi.
