The immediate past spokesperson of the Senate, Senator Ajibola Basiru, has written a petition to the Inspector General of Police to carry out a thorough investigation into allegations levelled against him in a release by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Spokesperson of the Governor of Osun State accusing him of a plan to import unauthorized Policemen into the State with the aim of unleashing mayhem on the people of the State.

In the statement, Adeleke’s spokesperson Olawale also alleged that Senator Ajibola Basiru had submitted names of some top members of the Peoples Democratic Party to the police for arrest on trumped up charges.

However, Basiru while reacting had threatened to institute legal action against Mallam Olawale Rasheed over what he described as defamation of character.

The ex-senate spokesperson said that Osun Government under Governor Jackson Adeleke has been propagating false allegations against him and other leaders of APC in the State to instigate and incite the public against him.

Senator Basiru in a petition through his lawyers urged the Inspector General of Police to investigate the allegations and invite the Mallam Olawale Rasheed to substantiate the claims aimed at tarnishing his image and bringing him and the Police Force into disrepute.

Similarly, Counsels to Senator Ajibola Basiru has also petitioned the Inspector General of Police to invite Mr Akintunde Bello Sheriff, an indigene of Osun for questioning over what he described as frivolous statements he made accusing the Senator of committing teasonable felony.

Senator through his lawyers want the Inspector General of Police to invite the Sheriff to substantiate his latest outburst culminating in referring to Senator Basiru as a felon, the latest in his characteristic cyberbullying and defamation of the chatacter of the Senator.
