The CPKC Women’s Open is all set to get underway in a few hours in Vancouver, Canada, and many golfers are on the lookout to get a cut of the $2.5 prize pool. And coming into the tournament with a rough year on the books is Lexi Thompson who had put on the shoes of a star in the game of golf from a young age.
The American golfer will look to score big this time as she takes to the Shaughnessy Golf Course in a bid to take home the winner’s cut of $375,000. In front of the 28-year-old is one of the biggest hurdles in the tournament and contrary to popular belief, it’s not the pro golfer Nelly Korda but something else. But, in a twist of sorts, the professional has taken the help of someone to tackle the obstacle surprising many in the golf community.
The 17th hole on the golf course will see the return of ‘The Rink’ from the 2022 CP Women’s Open. The No. 17 has been turned into a makeshift hockey arena with boards wrapping around the tee deck along with the left side of the hole. The theme is basically aimed at the fans’ involvement in the game where the spectators will be able to pound on the rink boards, along with volunteers dressed as referees with a complete hospitality experience. And Lexi was seen taking part in ‘The Rink’ as well ahead of the tournament.
The community saw the golf pro share an Instagram post on the 17th hole. As Thompson was practicing her rounds at the golf course, she made sure to seek help from one of her fans as the golfer shared a photo of them posing with their golf clubs. Meanwhile, the professional was also seen taking pictures with other amateur golfers as well in a series of photos uploaded not too long ago on her social media handle.
