Kwara South Senatorial Aspirant, Kazeem Salaam, lauds Tinubu, AbdulRazaq on Ilorin-Omu-Aran-Egbe road

A UK-based financial expert and leading aspirant for the Kwara South Senatorial District seat on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr Kazeem Olayimika Salaam, popularly known as Alabaja has lauded President Bola Tinubu for the recent approval of the reconstruction of the Ilorin–Omu-Aran–Egbe Road.

Salaam, also expressed gratitude to the entire Federal Executive Council as well as Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his resilience and political will that made this possible, describing the approval as a long-awaited and economically vital infrastructural project.

The financial guru explained that the Ilorin–Omu-Aran–Egbe Road is not merely a route of convenience but a lifeline for trade, agriculture, education, and social integration, adding that the road has served as major corridor linking the South-West , North-Central and other Northern States for decades.

According to him, the reconstruction of the road will not only boost economic activities and enhance regional integration along the corridor but will greatly promotes the movement of goods and people across regions and significantly improves security in the Kwara South axis.

Dr Salaam, however, appealed to the Honourable Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, to prioritize the Ajase-Ipo–Omu-Aran–Osi axis in the first phase of reconstruction, given the deplorable condition of that section of the road, saying Its rehabilitation will deliver immediate relief to thousands of road users and residents who suffer daily due to its current state.

“I greatly appreciate the responsiveness and compassion displayed by our quintessential leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the entire Federal Executive Council (FEC) on the approval of the reconstruction of the Ilorin–Omu-Aran–Egbe Road; this approval is historic and indelible in the consciousness of every citizen of Kwara South.

“In the same vein, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, for his steadfast commitment and proactive engagement that facilitated the inclusion and approval of this crucial road project at the Federal Executive Council. His leadership continues to open doors of development and strengthen the bond between the State and the Federal Government under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu.

“Over the years, the deterioration of the road has had dire consequences, disrupting commerce, limiting access to markets, and exacerbating insecurity. The once-thriving route has become a hotspot for banditry and kidnapping, posing grave dangers to commuters and residents alike. The approved reconstruction will not only revive economic opportunities but also restore safety and confidence along the corridor, particularly in the Okun axis, where insecurity had become rampant.

“Furthermore, we appeal to the Federal Executive Council to urgently consider the rehabilitation of the Erin-Ile–Ajase-Ipo Road, another critical federal route that links Kwara and Osun States. Its current condition has become a major impediment to inter-state trade and mobility, hampering the socio-economic cooperation that binds both states together.
