Leaders and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Osogbo Federal Constituency of Osun State on Monday called on the party’s House of Representatives primary election committee to declare the winner, as was done in the other eight constituencies in Osun State.

The stakeholders, drawn from Osogbo, Olorunda, Orolu and Irepodun Local Government Areas of Osun State, stormed the party’s constituency secretariat and debunked claims of a crisis in the constituency said to be causing the delay in announcing the results.

Speaking, the former Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Hon. Sola Oladepo said that stakeholders of the party in Osogbo Federal Constituency gathered to express their concerns over the delay in the announcement of the House of Representatives primary election results.

Oladepo said that party members came out last Saturday to cast their votes for the House of Representatives candidates in a peaceful and conducive environment.

He stated that the results were collated, signed by duly appointed agents and submitted at the federal constituency level to the committee that conducted the election.

He said the results should have been announced within 24 hours after the election, noting that up till now, the results had not been officially declared.

According to him, “The result has been submitted to the committee, and they have authenticated it, so it should be the one they announce. The results of the other eight federal constituencies have been compiled and sent to Abuja, while the Osogbo result is being withheld over claims of a dispute, whereas there is no dispute anywhere.

“We want to win the next election, we want Osogbo to remain peaceful, and we want everything to go well. That is why we are clamouring for Ibrahim Taofeeq Kayode, who won the election, to be declared,” he said.

Also speaking, Alhaji Odebiyi Lasisi
said that Ibrahim Taofeeq Kayode (ITK) polled about 7,181 votes, followed by Bosede Ogooluwa with 4,398 votes, while Abudrasheed Muheedeen (Romeo) came third with 2,351 votes, among others.

He said they heard there was pressure from the national executives of the party that the results should not be announced here, but rather all the results should be taken to Abuja.

However, the APC Chairman in Olorunda Local Government, Abdulkabir Ayatullahi, commended President Bola Tinubu for the great development in Nigeria under his administration, while also hailing the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola for his leadership in the party.

Others stakeholders present are Chairman Elders’ Forum, Osogbo local government, Prince Adebayo Raheem; Vice Chairman Elders Forum, Hazmat Onibonokuta; Alhaji Muftau Oladapo among others.
