Ogunkanmi Emerges ADC Reps Candidate for Aiyedire, Iwo, Olaoluwa Constituency
A former Deputy Chief Whip of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Abidemi Gbenga Ogunkanmi, has emerged as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the Aiyedire, Iwo, Olaoluwa Federal Constituency ahead of the forthcoming House of Representatives election.
Hon. Ogunkanmi, who represented Aiyedire State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly between 2019 and 2023, secured the party’s ticket following the conclusion of the party’s internal processes and consultations across the constituency.
Party members and stakeholders from Aiyedire, Iwo and Olaoluwa Federal Constituency expressed confidence in capacity, in Ogunkanmi who also served as the former chairman of Ayedire Local Government , political experience and grassroots connection, describing his emergence as a major step towards repositioning the constituency for effective representation at the National Assembly.
Speaking shortly after his emergence, Ogunkanmi appreciated leaders and members of the party for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to justify the mandate through purposeful and people-oriented representation.
“I am deeply humbled by the trust and confidence the party and our people have placed in me. This ticket is not just about me as an individual; it is about our collective desire to give the people of Aiyedire, Iwo and Olaoluwa a stronger voice and better representation at the National Assembly.
“For too long, our people have yearned for accessible and responsive leadership that understands their daily struggles. I am stepping forward with a commitment to provide representation that will prioritise the welfare of our farmers, traders, artisans, students and the elderly across the constituency,” Ogunkanmi noted.
He further assured party members that his campaign would be issue-based and driven by unity, consultation and grassroots mobilisation, stressing that the ADC remains committed to offering credible alternatives to the people.
Ogunkanmi also canvassed massive support for the African Democratic Congress governorship candidate in the August 15 governorship election, Rt. Hon. Najeem Folasayo Salaam (PhD), describing him as a seasoned administrator and experienced leader with the capacity to reposition Osun State for greater development and prosperity.
According to him, Salaam represents a fresh opportunity for the people of Osun State to embrace purposeful leadership centred on accountability, development and good governance.
“I want to passionately appeal to the people of our constituency and Osun State at large to support our governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Najeem Folasayo Salaam (PhD), in the August 15 governorship election. He possesses the experience, competence and vision required to move Osun State forward and deliver meaningful development to the people,” Ogunkanmi said.
He also called on members of the party and supporters across the constituency to remain united and committed ahead of the election, saying collective effort would be required to achieve victory at the polls.
