Obinna Iyiegbu, known on the social scene as Obi Cubana, is definitely having his best year. A few months ago, the burial of his late mum became the cynosure of all eyes and the talk of the town for weeks.
For those who have not followed Iyiegbu’s success story yet, the nightlife connoisseur has been around for a while but chose to keep a low profile. He quietly runs his business conglomerate with an interest in hospitality, real estate, oil and gas, production, events, and branding.
The Anambra-born entrepreneur began as a house agent after his National Youth Service Corp in Abuja in 1999. Obi took his destiny into his own hands breaking out from a civil service family to become a business magnate with a fortune worth billions of naira with the launch of his first entertainment outfit called Ibiza in Abuja.
At the beginning of the year, the graduate of Political Science from the University of Nigeria Nsukka never knew 2021 had something in stock for him. Those around him say that 2021 is the first time he would be getting such a huge media mention after his mother’s burial despite trying hard to stay off the media space.
Recently at the Sun Awards, with a massive entourage of budding billionaires, family, and friends, he was awarded The Sun Hospitality Icon of the year 2020.
