Osun State branch has condemned in totality what it described as incessant criminally attack on innocent and law abiding journalist by an officer of the Nigeria Police Force in Osun.
It equally called on the state commissioner of police, Undie Adie to arrest the officer and immediately launch investigation into the matter .
The group made this known on Tuesday through its coordinator, Comrade Akin Asifat popularly known as akingofment in a press release made available to THESOURCE in Osogbo.
Asafa, who frowned to the attitude of the police office against the journalist which led to physical assault and threat to his life said “such behavior must never be allowed in a civilized society of ours.”
“Our attention has been drawn to unwarranted attack on Mr Jare Tiamiyu, Chairman Osun State Media Practitioner along Okinni-Oshogbo Road. It was equally learnt that affected journalist was coming from Okinni axis to Osogbo whilst he was stopped by police officer who was not on uniform but stood on the road to ensure stop and search activity. But the innocent journalist did not objected to the instructions and could be repay back for his obedience was physical assault and humiliation with threat to life through gun shooting and charm.
“We are bold to emphatically state it that Mr Jare Tiamiyu would have been murdered cold-bloodedly,if not by God’s grace that finally safe him this police officer and his cohorts who were on the road that time.
“Our movement condemn this barbaric act totally, whilst believing that police force was made to secure life and properties of the citizens not to inflicting unjust, inhumane&obnoxious attack on them. This singular belief is premised in the act that established Nigerian Police Force&oat each officers swore to whilst taking up assignment.
“We charge the Commissioner of Police in the State of Osun to promptly, as we demand for immediate & unconditional arrest & prosecution of those officers who intend to kill innocent person of Mr Jare Tiamiyu & harras his trainee who are going out to their lawful duty.
“Nigerian Police Officers should be friends to common man,not fascists.”
