Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Saturday charged the residents to maintain personal and environmental hygiene to prevent the spread of the disease in the state.

This is even as the Governor commissions two health centres and two borehole water projects in Gidigbo ward and Odo Oba, Iwo, supported by the Osun State Community and Social Development Agency (OSUN CSDA).

Adeleke advised the residents to wash their hands regularly with soap and water, “Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, and wash thoroughly your fruits and vegetables before eating or cooking to put cholera away.”

He urged citizens to seek immediate medical attention at nearby health centres if they experienced any discomfort.

Adeleke noted that Osun CSDA under the present state government, has supported communities in the implementation of 31 microprojects.

He also assured the people of Iwo that the rehabilitation of Iwo-Osogbo Road will soon be completed, adding that Iwo water works are also billed for rehabilitation.

According to him, “In Iwo township and through Osun CSDA, the present state government has supported communities in the implementation of 31 microprojects cutting across many sectors. Today we are commissioning just four of them, which are two health centres and two borehole water projects.

“As health is wealth, this present administration is embarking on systematic interventions, taking practical steps in providing social facilities that will make life more meaningful to the masses.

“Let me use this medium to reiterate that very soon, the rehabilitation of Iwo-Osogbo Road will be completed. Several kilometers of internal roads are being constructed here in Iwo. We are working towards ensuring solid and durable work on the road to boost the economy of the state.

“Let me also note that Iwo Water Works is billed for rehabilitation. We are working with the Federal Ministry of Works to complete the Gbongan-Iwo-Oyo road. Much more importantly, we will continue to ensure the integrity of the Oluwo of Iwoland as the President of the Iwoland Traditional Council, covering the three local governments making up Iwoland.

“I charge the beneficiaries of this project to ensure regular and adequate maintenance and sustainability of the projects. I must especially appreciate the good work that Osun CSDA is doing in ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach the nooks and crannies of the state. I assure the agency of the continuous support of the state government.

“Before I end my address, I want to remind all and sundry that the cholera outbreak is still in the country; therefore, let us ensure that we maintain personal and environmental hygiene. Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, and wash thoroughly your fruits and vegetables before eating or cooking to put cholera away.

“Go quickly to the available hospital or health centre whenever you feel any discomfort in your body. “A ko ni se aisan o.”

However, the General Manager Of Osun State Community And Social Development Agency (OSUN CSDA), Aderonke Fumi Abokede, has lauded Governor Ademola Adeleke for his efforts in bringing development to the grassroots level.

Abokede commended the governor’s commitment to ensuring that the benefits of development reach the most vulnerable communities in the state.

She said, “We are here today to celebrate the remarkable assistance of Osun State Government to Odo Oba community through Osun State Community and Social Development Agency (OSUN CSDA) under Osun CARES, a World Bank intervention programme.

“This commissioning is only possible because of the funding provided by the Executive Governor of the State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke. 31 microprojects are been funded in Iwo out of which 2 micro projects are in this community to be commissioned today.

“Indeed, our governor is walking his talk on his 5 Point Development Agenda to ensure that electoral promises are translated into needed social amenities and development through Osun State Community and Social Development Agency (Osun CSDA) under Osun CARES, a World Bank intervention program. Osun CSDA is the agency that makes use of Community development (CDD), demand driven, bottom- up approach and primarily finance Micro projects initiated by communities.

“I must thank Odo Oba Community for their contribution and participation before and during the implementation of these micro projects as this has entrenched ownership and sustainability. It is therefore expected that you will take care and ensure maintenance of these micro projects, so that they can serve the community for years to come. Let the generation yet unborn benefit from the investment we have made together.

“As shown today, The Executive Governor of Osun State is committed and dedicated to the improvement of health and wellbeing of the people in Osun State. This is demonstrated in Iwo Land with 31 multisectoral micro projects can fully completed in test than 2 year of the present Administration under the Leadership of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of the State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke.,” she added.

Meanwhile, the Oluwo of Iwoland, who was represented by the Aaremo Oluwo,
Adelani Akande, expressed his appreciation to Governor Adeleke for his administration’s projects in the town.
