On January 7, 2025, the Al Fityattun Muslim Organisation launched its much-anticipated entrepreneurship program in Ogun State, with the support of the Association of Ogun State Muslim Elites on Islamic Affairs.

The event aimed to empower Muslim youth and align with the African Union’s sustainability development goals for 2063.

The program’s keynote address was delivered by the President of Al Fityattun Muslim Organisation, Hajia Ramota Ajoke Rasaq.

She stressed the importance of Muslims actively engaging in economic development and taking leadership roles in society.

Rasaq also highlighted the need for madrasahs to incorporate entrepreneurship education into their curriculums.

Professor Olusegun Abdulfatah from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile ife, the guest speaker, urged Muslims to seize this opportunity to contribute to Nigeria’s economic growth and cautioned against missing the moment.

He emphasized the role of youth in fostering entrepreneurship and shared strategies to overcome challenges hindering growth.

The event was further supported by the Chairman of the Association of Ogun State Muslim Elites, who committed to providing additional financial empowerment for the participants after the program.

The entrepreneurial initiative continued with a week-long event from January 20-26, 2025, at the Morkaz at Thaqofiy in Akute.

The program included insightful sessions from experts, such as Dr. Abdulsemiu Ajani Al-Kilany from Lagos State University and Dr. Luqman Abiodun Garu from GaruTech Company encouraged youth to embrace entrepreneurship, with Dr. Al-Kilany stressing that success is not determined by attending Western schools but by practical skills.

Dr. Garu emphasized the importance of access to business knowledge, which the program aimed to provide.

A training session from Mr. Ogunnaike Ayodapo Akinola of the Small and Medium Scale Development Agency (SMEDAN) provided practical tips on business registration and skills, while representatives from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) shared essential knowledge about certifications for business growth.

The National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) south west coordinator was also present at the event to emphasize the importance of the NBAIS examination to students of Arabic and Islamic schools as it serves as substitute to WAEC and NECO examination for the student which they can use in both local and international context.

The event concluded successfully, equipping participants with valuable entrepreneurial skills and a clearer path towards future business ventures.
