Odion Ighalo is confident Saudi Arabia Professional League club, Al Hilal can win the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup title.
Al Hilal will represent the Asian Football Confederation in the competition which will run from February 1-11 in Morocco.
European champions, Real Madrid and South American winners, Flamengo are firm favourites to win the competition.
But Ighalo, who was part of Al Hilal’s squad that came fourth at the last edition of the competition insists his club can shock the heavyweights.
The Nigerian stated that the current Asian champions can draw inspiration from Morocco’s solid showing at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
“Everything is possible in football. Nowadays you can’t predict what’s going to happen. If you work hard and fight hard on the field of play you can do anything. Look at Morocco at the World Cup, for instance,” Ighalo told FIFA.com.
“Nobody gave them a chance. They got to the semi-final and they almost got to the final. I believe Al Hilal can fight and get to the final and win it, because in football it’s possible to do anything when you work hard and believe in yourself.”
Seattle Sounders, Auckland City and Wydad Casablanca are other teams that will participate in the competition.
