Carlos Alcaraz resurfaced after seemingly disappearing from the ATP Tour following his most recent US Open disappointment.

After Novak Djokovic and Alcaraz delivered the Cincinnati Masters masterpiece, many assumed that they would meet in the US Open final. We were really close to that match, but Daniil Medvedev produced one of his best performances of the year to stun the Spaniard in the semi-final, setting up the final against Djokovic.

Unfortunately for his fans, Medvedev didn’t play nearly as well in the final, allowing Djokovic to cruise to a 24th Grand Slam trophy. Alcaraz brushed off the result as something that happens, but it disappointed many greatly.

He disappeared from the Tour, only making headlines by attending a bullfighting event in his native Spain, which received widespread condemnation. He’s back to tennis, seemingly, as he posted an update on his Instagram. Per his admission, he took a few days to rest after the US Open but is back to preparing for the Asian swing.

I have had a few days rest after many weeks playing! Looking back and remembering the @usopen, one of my favourite tournaments and an incredible atmosphere! Can’t wait to go back next year, to see all the fans and the family at the @newyorkpalace! Now it’s time to focus on the Asian swing!

It’s the first time Alcaraz will take part in the Asian swing because the pandemic stopped tennis in that part of the world for the past few years. Alcaraz will participate in a few events, such as the China Open starting on the 28th of September and then the Masters in Shanghai.

The Masters begins on October 4th and will run until the 15th of October. Plenty of points up for grabs as he tries to narrow the gap to Djokovic in what will be a battle for number one until the end of the year.
